Noise Pierces Versus Structure Breaks
Language matters. Calling every pierce a “break” trains you to abandon plans too early. We separate noise pierces (brief excursions that reclaim) from structure breaks (acceptance beyond the boundary with follow-through).
Acceptance can be measured simply: consecutive closes beyond the line, or a full session spent outside with failed attempts to reclaim. Either definition is fine—what matters is choosing one and applying it consistently across your charts.
In Break and Reclaim Clinic, participants annotate the same twenty examples using a shared vocabulary. Disagreement drops quickly once everyone stops using “break” for every tick that kisses the wrong side of a line.
